Dear Friends,
As I reflect on spending my first quarter as Camp Lutherwood Oregon’s Executive Director, I am filled with both gratitude and humility.
When there are pauses in the rain, I am able to take a break from computer-work and sit by our creek and soak up the wonder of the natural environment that we are surrounded by. And, for that, I am grateful. I am grateful for the incredible year-round staff and volunteers that keep camp powered during all seasons; rain, shine, wind, and snow. Their dedication, commitment, skillfulness, and energy keep me inspired and motivated. I am grateful for the people who came before me. It is clear that so much thought and design have been put into how to make this amazing place run well, and for that, I am thankful. I am deeply grateful to Andrea Scofield and her teams of amazing leaders who have built and sustained camp through so many seasons. I am grateful to our Board of Directors who have welcomed me with open arms and shepherded me as I find my footing. And, I am grateful to our many donors. Every day, a donor reaches out to camp in one way or another. This means that each day I am reminded that while living their very full and busy lives, so many people pause and think of Camp Lutherwood Oregon as a place that they’d like to give to and support. It’s stunning, and I am so grateful. Thank you!

And, I am humbled. I am humbled by the creativity, energy, resourcefulness, cleverness, and skillfulness that Camp Lutherwood Oregon requires of me. I’m humbled by the daily tasks, the details, the numbers, the processes that all demand attention and care. I’m humbled by the opportunity to dream and to dream big. There is endless possibility and potential at camp, and it is a blessing to be able to dream when so many in our world are pouring their everything into surviving. As we know, fighting to survive leaves little space to dream. While I am blessed to dream, I am humbled by what is needed to turn those dreams into reality. Bringing camp from today into tomorrow is and will continue to be a humbling experience.
While remaining rooted in gratitude and humility, I am quickly finding my footing, wrapping my arms around this amazing place that has been set apart, and I am so excited to join with each and every one of you as together, we build the brightest future for Camp Lutherwood Oregon!
With Gratitude,
Robin Eisenbach
