Meet our guest leader for this summer’s Women’s Retreat (July 29-31)!
Dr. Kotchian, a writer and retired public health administrator, leads workshops and contemplative retreats involving creative writing and art. A trained spiritual director and Presbyterian church elder and parish visitor, she completed a 500-mile solo pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Spain in 2012. She is the author of Camino, an award-winning book of poetry and photographs about that pilgrimage. Her creative work has also been published in “Listen” and Presence: the International Journal of Spiritual Direction.
She holds an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, and a PhD in American Studies from the University of New Mexico, with a dissertation on the relationship between CEO faith and corporate environmental practices.
Formerly the Director of the Albuquerque Environmental Health Department and later a member of the public health faculty of the UNM School of Medicine, she taught public health workshops for many years. She and her husband live in Albuquerque and are the parents of two grown children.
